What's New in Strada Dashboard v1.12

Version 1.12 is a huge upgrade!

Here is a Summary:

  1. Improved Commute Scoring - We tweaked the commute scoring a little bit to make it more fair.
  2. 10 Hz. Bluetooth GPS Support - If your Android device is connected to a bluetooth-based GPS device, Strada Dashboard will automatically update the dashboard at up to ten times per second.  If you don’t have one connected, it will go at the fastest your phone’s built-in GPS can support (which is typically around one per second).
  3. Commute Logging - Saves your commutes to your phone.
  4. Added a Commutes tab - Shows a summary of your past commutes, with the most recent entries showing up on top.
  5. Added a Commute Detail screen - Shows detailed information of a commute.  You get to this screen by pressing an entry from the Commutes tab.
  6. Time Category indicator - Shows on the middle-left side of the Dashboard screen whether your current speed goes under Idle Time, Slow Time, or Fast Time.

What's New in Strada v1.11

Improved Screen Alignments

Prior to v1.11, some UI elements didn't line up perfectly.  Specifically, the Current Speed and Unit (mph or kmh) had a slight vertical alignment problem.  Now they do.  This improves ease of use.

Plus, Commute info now only occupy one line.  This makes the screen look less crowded and easier to read by the user.

Bigger Commute Info and Clock

Now that we reclaimed some vertical space from the Commute Info section, we enlarged the Commute Info and Clock.  Those two are the second and third most important pieces of information, and so needed to be bigger.

Support for More Devices

Strada now works well with many other screen sizes.  Whether you're using a smaller phone or a tablet, Strada should look like it was built for your device, no more one size fits all!

Smaller App Size

In a mobile device, smaller app size is better.  In v1.11, we made Strada 14% than the previous version.  This means faster downloads from the Google Play Store!

What's New in v 1.10

Here are the biggest changes to Strada in v1.10:

Full Landscape Support

Previously, only one landscape orientation was supported.  If you use your phone on the other landscape orientation, you end up with a reversed screen.  In v1.10, when you rotate your phone to the other landscape orientation, the screen elements will rotate to match the new orientation.

Speed Warning Adjustments

Speed Warning for the Street is now triggered only at the Street Threshold + 5 mph (or kmh).  So, if you set it to 40mph, Speed Warning will trigger when you reach 41mph - 45mph.  Once you reach 46mph, the warning display turns off.  It is assuming you know what you're doing.

Likewise, for the Freeway (aka Motorway, Autobahn, Autostrada, Highway), Speed Warning is triggered only at Freeway Threshold + 10mph (or kmh).  If you set it to 70mph, Speed Warning stays active from 71mph - 80mph.  After that, it assumes you know what you're doing.

Travel Time

Renamed Elapsed Time into a more user-friendly Travel Time.
